With the start of the harvest season for wheat and barley crops in Nineveh Governorate, the Nineveh Governorate Council confirmed that the governorate’s silos will operate 24 hours a day.
Council member Abdullah Al-Nujaifi said that after addressing the Presidency of the Nineveh Provincial Council and the Presidency of the Iraqi Council of Ministers, the latter’s approval was obtained to open Nineveh’s silos and receive wheat and barley crops around the clock.
Al-Nujaifi continued that this step comes in an effort to make the harvest marketing season in the governorate a success, as all silos in Nineveh have been directed to work 24 hours a day without stopping, in order to relieve the pressure on farmers in receiving their wheat and barley crops without forcing them to stand in long lines or being exploited by them. Some weak souls in exchange for receiving their crops.
