A security source in Nineveh Governorate revealed, on Tuesday, that the energy police seized an oil pipeline believed to have been used to smuggle crude oil from the Ain Zala fields northwest of Mosul.
The source told Mosul Time Radio, “The Third Regiment of the First Brigade of the Energy Police in Nineveh was able to control a bypass on the pipeline extending from the Ain Zala field towards the Kasak refinery, west of Mosul. It is believed that it was used to smuggle crude oil from it near the village of Talmus in the Zumar district.”
The source explained that the Energy Police “arrested three suspects to investigate the incident,” noting that “information was received about the existence of this violation, and that Energy Police patrols continued searching for more than a week with foot patrols until they found this violation.”
The source continued, “We found a CAC on a 10-knot oil pipeline, and we discovered a copper tube extended over agricultural land buried underground.”
