The Ministry of Transport announced, On Sunday, it expressed its readiness to launch the second package of mass transportation projects in the capital, Baghdad, and the governorates, especially densely populated areas .
A statement by the ministry’s media office said, in a statement received by Mosul Time Radio, “The General Company for Transporting Passengers and Delegations (one of the formations of the Ministry of Transport) has so far opened 29 mass transit lines in the areas of the capital, Baghdad, while seeking to deliver the red bus to all densely populated areas, especially Shula. Freedom, Kadhimiya, and others .”
The statement added, “The Ministry formed a number of committees to communicate with local governments in the governorates,” stressing that “the mass transportation file was discussed with the governments of Karbala, Diyala, and Salah al-Din, to operate a number of lines there .”
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Transport is planning in the future to contract to purchase electric cars, in order to preserve the safety of the environment, as the number of operating lines in Baghdad and the governorates has reached approximately 50 lines, with more than 200 buses operating on them, in Baghdad, Mosul, Salah al-Din, Najaf, Diyala, and Basra.
