Nineveh Provincial Council member Abdullah Al-Nujaifi said that the political class in Nineveh does not represent a 100% correct reflection of society, but rather represents different political blocs. He explained that there is interaction between the various political blocs and there are negotiations about rights and their extraction, which leads to censure and blame directed at us by some. He added in his speech during a dialogue session of the Noon Center for Studies held in Mosul, “We were elected to extract rights and not to go along with the strongest, and there are those who rely on money and power, and some members of the Council could not bear the temptations, and the conflict in the Council will continue within the limits of the law.” He stated that there are two parties fighting over the state, the first of which is the group that is trying to preserve the state, and the other party is the militias that are trying to drag the state to another path, indicating that it is our responsibility in the Provincial Council to preserve the state and implement the law. Al-Nujaifi stated that many members of the Provincial Council were subjected to pressure at the beginning, and that there were many of them who remained steadfast and clung to the rights of their families, in addition to the friendliness of some who did not withstand temptations, and therefore they are the ones who will bear the consequences of their choices.
