The Governor of Nineveh opened Nergal Street after it had been closed months ago due to a lawsuit.
The opening of Nergal Street, linking Nergal neighborhood and Al-Mansa Expressway, took place on Tuesday evening by Governor Abdel Qader Al-Dakhil.
The Mosul Municipality had completed the technical and engineering works for the street in both directions.
The street is of great strategic importance on the left side of Mosul, especially during the official working hours of the Mosul and Northern Technical Universities, as the street absorbs the momentum occurring at the Cultural Group intersection during peak times extending from eight in the morning until four in the afternoon.
A lawsuit had caused the street to be closed after citizens claimed they owned part of the street since the 1980s, when the government at that time expropriated the land without compensating its owners.
In order to ensure the continuity of this street, the Mosul Municipality created a path adjacent to the old one and rehabilitated it, and it was opened this evening.
