Scientific achievements continue at the University of Mosul, where Dr. (Laith Ahmed Najm), Dr. (Mahmoud Ahmed Hamoud), and the master’s student (Karam Maysar Abdulaziz ) registered a patent for “manufacturing aluminum-copper alloys with other foundry elements and studying their efficiency in attenuating rays.” Gamma .
Seven alloys consisting of (Al, Cu, Pb) were manufactured , one of which was a binary aluminum-copper alloy (Al67-Cu33), and the other was a triple alloy with different weight ratios of the copper and lead alloy elements, with the percentage of aluminum fixed .
The results showed good agreement between the practical and theoretical values, and in light of the results it was found that the best specifications were represented by the alloy that consisted of the highest percentage of lead .
