Yesterday , Monday, the Commander of the Land Forces, Lieutenant General Qasim Muhammad Saleh, announced the establishment of a strategic defensive line extending to the Iraqi-Syrian border, while indicating the completion of the capture of 106 km deep into the Iraqi-Syrian border within a month .
Saleh said “The Salah al-Din Operations Command is responsible for imposing security and stability through units of the army, the Popular Mobilization Forces, the police, security forces, and agencies within the sector of Salah al-Din Governorate, and the central region bordering the desert from the western side and from the north, which is bordered by mountainous areas such as Hamrin and some voids that exist as a result of the ruggedness of the region. In the middle of the governorate there is the Al-Eith Desert , which requires special procedures .”
Saleh added: “We have established a strategic project , which is a defensive line from the crossings area on the Haditha-Baiji road, towards the Al-Sukkariyat Bridge, Bakkah and Aqrab, and to the defensive line that extends from Al-Hatra to the Iraqi-Syrian border,” indicating that “this excellent strategic line protects the northern regions and the Central and the governorates of Nineveh, Kirkuk, and Salah al-Din, including Samarra .”
He pointed out that “this line will prevent the infiltration of terrorist elements towards the Hamrin and Makhul mountains and other valleys, as part of wonderful arrangements that have reached the final stages,” stressing that “within a month, 106 kilometers will be completed with a solid defensive line deep into the Iraqi-Syrian border, and any infiltration will be prevented permanently.” Towards the depth of Iraqi territory from the western region .”
He continued: “We have arrangements within the areas of Hamrin, the areas of Al-Aith , and the areas of Hawi Al-Azim, and these defensive actions come to pursue and follow up on terrorist elements that are located far from residential areas .”
He pointed out that “the security forces resort to areas located in some valleys, mountains and caves that are out of sight of the people, but not far from the reconnaissance of the security forces and intelligence means,” noting that “a strike was recently carried out north of the Al-Azim Dam, resulting in the killing of three terrorists through the efforts of the Intelligence Directorate.” The heroic Iraqi military and air force, and there is daily tracking, day and night, and all surveillance resources work with high efficiency, whether drones, surveillance cameras, or binoculars .”
He stressed that “fighters from all security forces are present in the various operational sectors within the Salah al-Din operations field to follow, track and pursue terrorist elements, and there is a complete imposition of security and stability in the region.”
