Archaeological committee revealed the reconstruction of the mosque Al-Nuri, archaeological excavator, Abdul Allah Mahmoud Al-Obaidi announced the resumption of work after removing the war remnants left by ISIS .
Al-Obaidi explained that the removal of the war remnants was carried out by the Nineveh Explosives Directorate.
He pointed out that work is taking place at an accelerated pace, especially in the minaret and in the mosque’s chapel .
A week ago, during the reconstruction operations of the Al-Nuri Mosque, UNESCO work teams found war remnants belonging to the terrorist organization ISIS, which forced the work teams to stop the reconstruction operations and evacuate the site.
The Al-Nuri Mosque was subjected to comprehensive destruction as a result of the terrorist organization ISIS bombing the mosque and the minaret during the operations to liberate Mosul from ISIS in the summer of 2017.
