A number of Mosul residents demanded that the Nineveh Traffic Directorate put an end to the operation of taxis ( kyats ) that lack traffic safety factors.
A Mosul citizen, Muhammad Imad, said in an interview with Mosul Time Radio, “There is a state of indifference on the part of the Nineveh Traffic Directorate. There are tens and hundreds of Kia vehicles transporting passengers without meeting any safety conditions.”
Meanwhile, citizen “Ibrahim Khalil” told Mosul Time Radio, “During the past years, after the liberation of Mosul from ISIS, the city of Mosul was subjected to an invasion of Kyat vehicles that were brought from other governorates and refused to operate on its streets. They brought them to Mosul, and they are bad and not even suitable for transporting livestock.” .
Mosul residents place the blame on the Traffic Directorate for being lenient in the movement of Kia vehicles that do not meet safety conditions, especially since most of them are very bad, to the point that their front and rear lights do not exist and they move at insane speeds on the city’s roads while carrying passengers without any control or supervision.
