The representative in the Iraqi Parliament for Nineveh Governorate revealed that a number of university presidents, their assistants, and dozens of college deans in Nineveh universities will be replaced during the coming period, in accordance with the new higher education law enacted by the Iraqi Parliament last Thursday, May 9 .
Al-Shammari continued in his interview with Mosul Time Radio that the decision is expected to enter into force after approximately two months, specifically when it is published in the Iraqi newspaper Al-Waqa’i and reaches the Ministry of Higher Education to begin implementation .
Last Thursday, the House of Representatives enacted the Higher Education Law, and Al-Shammari confirms that this law is important for universities and all scientific institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education .
He explained that the law stipulated a very important paragraph, which consists of changing university presidents, their assistants, deans, and directors of centers of the Scientific Research Authority for those who have been in the position for 4 years, as the law allowed them to be extended for only one year, and that the law will apply to some of them in the position now .
Regarding the management of the position by the agency, he continued that the agency may not be extended for more than one year, commenting by saying, “We in Nineveh are interested in having scientific competencies and those known for their experience and integrity hold scientific positions, without any courtesies at the expense of level and scientific sobriety, especially “Everyone bears witness to the distinguished academic ranks achieved by the University of Mosul .”
