The Ministry of Water Resources confirmed that the condition of the Mosul Dam is safe, stable and operating normally, while indicating that grouting work on the dam’s foundations will continue without stopping.
The Director General of the General Authority for Dams and Reservoirs, Ali Radi Thamer, said in a statement, “Based on the directives of the Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiyab Abdullah, a field tour was conducted in the management of the Mosul Dam Project in Nineveh Governorate, during which we met with the staff working in the grouting work, in the presence of a member of the House of Representatives from Nineveh Governorate, Latif.” Mustafa Al-Warshan and a number of security leaders there, to listen to work obstacles and problems and develop appropriate solutions for them.”
He added, “During which the situation in the Mosul Dam project was discussed and the reality of the rumors circulated by some social media outlets about the cessation of grouting work on the dam was discussed, and the defects that led to the promotion of such news were diagnosed,” stressing, “The entitlements of the employees working in the dam are… It is completely preserved and the subject of attention by the highest levels of the Iraqi state, and no effort has been spared for the purpose of improving the living reality and increasing the financial benefits for the staff working in the project. The rumors that have been transmitted by some satellite channels and social networking sites contain major fallacies, and the aim of some of the spreaders of these rumors is to create confusion among people. The staff working in the Mosul Dam after the great success of our national cadres in making the Mosul Dam in the maximum safety condition and currently storing the highest level of water that has not been achieved for many years.”
He stated, “Any incitement or promotion of rumors or illegal actions in such a strategic project is considered a threat to the country’s national security, given that the dam serves Iraq, and that the dam’s condition is safe, stable, and operating normally,” stressing, “The grouting work on the dam has not stopped despite “The sit-in of some employees and workers for limited hours ended and they returned to carrying out their work normally.”
