The Iraqi National Security Service announced Large quantities of smuggled medicines were seized in Salah al-Din , Nineveh , and Baghdad governorates .

The National Security said in a statement, “According to accurate intelligence information and field follow-up, the National Security Service detachments in Baghdad, and after obtaining judicial approvals, were able to seize a house used to store medicines and medical materials in an illegal manner .”

He added, “The itinerary of one of the wheels was monitored after transporting medicines from one home to a warehouse for the purpose of storing them. After collecting sufficient information and evidence, two defendants were arrested and about (116) thousand medicine boxes inside the home were confiscated .”

He pointed out that “our detachments were also able in Salah al-Din Governorate to seize a building consisting of (13) rooms containing about (30) tons of smuggled medicines whose storage violated health controls, and from which they were extracted from (sanitary facilities) .”

He continued, “In Nineveh Governorate, two warehouses that were illegal to store medicines were seized, containing more than (75) thousand prohibited medicinal pills, and a wheel containing about (140) thousand medicine boxes was seized. Its driver and those accompanying him tried to hide them under boxes of bananas, so that they were confiscated.” Medicines and the arrest of the two people .”

He stressed that “the defendants and the seized items were referred to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary measures in accordance with the law.”
