A security source in Nineveh revealed A journalist was sentenced to 3 years in prison on charges of impersonating a judge .
The source said, “The Mosul Misdemeanor Court issued a 3- year prison sentence against journalist Ziad Al-Sanjari in accordance with the provisions of Article 433 of the Iraqi Penal Code .”
He explained, “The ruling was issued on charges that Al-Sanjari impersonated a judge and claimed that he had relations with government officials and leaked secret government books and documents whose circulation is prohibited .”
The Intelligence Division in Nineveh Governorate arrested journalist Ziad Al-Sanjari in mid-June and opened an investigation against him on charges of impersonating a judge in Mosul, two months after his return from Austria, where he had sought refuge since ISIS took control of Mosul .
During the period of detention, the investigation was in-depth, and messages exchanged with some officials and government employees in Nineveh via his mobile phone were viewed. Messages appeared related to the leaking of information and documents from some departments in Nineveh.
