Yesterday, Friday, the US Department of Defense (the Pentagon) revealed the details of the strike it directed at a headquarters belonging to the Popular Mobilization Forces in the Jurf al-Sakhar district, north of the Iraqi Babil Governorate.

Deputy Pentagon spokeswoman, Sabrina Singh, said during a press conference, reported by Al-Hurra TV, that “the strike was defensive, and was carried out after detecting an attack about to occur.”

Singh added, “The United States will not hesitate to take defensive measures to ensure the safety of its soldiers and its interests in Iraq and the region.”

She pointed out that “Minister Lloyd Austin revealed the ongoing and future changes in American forces in the Middle East, but there is no decision yet regarding the defensive capabilities expected to be deployed.”

Singh explained, “There are additional measures that include changes in the status of the current and future defense force, which the ministry will take to support its allies in the region,” noting that this step may include “deploying additional forces in the region.”
