Advisor to the Prime Minister for Education Affairs, Adnan Al-Sarraj, announced the imminent launch of a campaign to count the numbers of dropouts and return them to school, while UNICEF confirmed that the return to education program will continue for 45 days .
Adviser to the Prime Minister for Education Affairs, Adnan Al-Sarraj, said, “The initiative of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani and his sponsorship of the return to education program in cooperation with UNICEF will reduce the phenomenon of dropouts,” noting that “the numbers of dropout students are very large, especially in the liberated areas .”
He added, “The Ministry of Education, in cooperation with UNICEF, worked to count the numbers of dropouts in most of the governorates it moved to,” stressing: “A new campaign will be launched on the first of next September to count the numbers of dropouts, care for them, and return them to education .”
He explained that “the return to education program is not only concerned with the process of returning to school, but will also be concerned with preparing schools and capacities to accommodate the large numbers of dropouts,” noting that “the reasons for dropping out of schools are many, including economic, security, and social .”
He went on to say: “We are playing a major role in preparing public opinion to help dropouts enroll in schools and to diagnose and treat cases within the Ministry of Education,” noting that “there are many cases that have exceeded the specified school age, and for these we will find a way to accept them into schools.”
