A member of the Nineveh Provincial Council, Abdullah Al-Nujaifi, confirmed yesterday , Saturday, that the deal that took place in Kirkuk to form its local government took place at the expense of Nineveh, indicating that the bargaining carried out by the political forces is taking place at the expense of Nineveh Governorate and its rights .
Al-Nujaifi’s statement came against the backdrop of a previous statement by the leader of the Sovereignty Alliance, Khaled Al-Mufarji, in which he said in a television interview that “The Sovereignty Alliance agreed with the Babylon bloc, led by Rayan Al-Kildani, to grant government positions and shares in Kirkuk to sovereignty and leave the positions in Nineveh .”
Al-Nujaifi said in a press interview , “What happened in Kirkuk confirms that political bargaining is taking place at the expense of Nineveh and its people, and this is something we cannot accept .”
He added: “It is unfortunate to see agreements concluded at the expense of Nineveh, which suffered from wars and destruction without finding anyone to console it or stand with it in its ordeal .”
He stressed that “the absence and marginalization of Nineveh is due to the agreements concluded by the political forces far from its people and legitimate leaders,” stressing that “this agreement will have negative consequences, and that what happened behind the scenes will find its way into the open .”
K pointed out that he and many of those who represent Nineveh will not stand idly by in the face of this deliberate marginalization, stressing that “Nineveh needs leaders from within it, so that its affairs are not left in the hands of those who attack it and lead it toward ruin .”
Al-Nujaifi added, saying: “The recent statements of the leader of the Sovereignty Alliance do not represent the alliance that has an important presence and alliances in the unified Nineveh bloc in the Nineveh Provincial Council.”
