Nadia Al-Jubouri, a leader in the Sovereignty Party led by Khamis Al-Khanjar, announced yesterday , Sunday, her withdrawal from the party due to its participation in deals that she said were “at the expense of Nineveh .”

Earlier, a document issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Commerce revealed that an order had been issued to relieve Nineveh Supply Director, Nadia Nasser Al-Jubouri, from her position .

Nadia Al-Jubouri said in a statement that she “categorically announces her withdrawal from the Sovereignty Party due to their condemnatory position towards Nineveh and the entitlements for the governorate and their abandonment of it for the sake of other deals in Kirkuk .”

She added, “Her withdrawal came in line with the rights of Nineveh,” indicating that she “will support the decision of the Nineveh masses to choose a list that meets the ambitions of the people of the governorate,” as she put it .

It was stated in a letter issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Commerce, dated August 15, 2024, that the minister agreed to relieve “Nadia Al-Jubouri” from the duties of managing the Nineveh Supply Branch and assign “Sultan Yousef Saleh” the duties of managing the branch .

Earlier, members of the Sovereignty Party called on the party’s leadership to clarify its position regarding statements regarding the rights of the people of Nineveh Governorate .

A statement by the members stated that the members of the Sovereignty Party in Nineveh denounce and condemn the statements made by the party’s spokesman about the existence of concessions on the rights of our people in Nineveh in exchange for gains in Kirkuk .

The statement added, “We call on the party’s leadership to state its urgent position on this dangerous talk that we are not aware of.” The statement pointed out that in the event of a lack of response and clarification, we will announce our withdrawal and work as independents in the provincial council .

Before that, Nineveh Provincial Council member Abdullah Al-Nujaifi confirmed that the deal that took place in Kirkuk to form the local government took place at the expense of Nineveh, indicating that the bargaining carried out by the political forces is taking place at the expense of Nineveh Governorate and its rights .

Al-Nujaifi said that what happened in Kirkuk confirms that political bargains are being made at the expense of Nineveh and its people, and this is something we cannot accept .

He added, “It is unfortunate to see agreements concluded at the expense of Nineveh, which suffered from wars and destruction without finding anyone to console it or stand with it in its ordeal .”

He stressed that the absence and marginalization of Nineveh is due to the agreements concluded by political forces far from its people and legitimate leaders, pointing out that he and many of those who represent Nineveh will not stand idly by in the face of this deliberate marginalization .

He continued, saying, “Nineveh needs leaders from within it, so that its affairs are not left in the hands of those who attack it and lead it toward ruin .”

Sovereignty Party spokesman Khaled Al-Mufarji responded to the statements of Nineveh Council member Abdullah Al-Nujaifi, stressing that the rights of Arabs in Nineveh and Kirkuk cannot be neglected, and we are not among those who sell or give up their rights .

Al-Mufarji said, “We did not sit with Rayyan Al-Kaldani to negotiate positions or electoral entitlements in Nineveh or Kirkuk .”

He added, “In the local government negotiations in Nineveh, we were part of a political coalition representing the Arabs, and our dialogue was with others collectively and not individually .”

Al-Mufarji continued, “The Sovereignty Alliance’s relinquishment of the position of deputy governor (in Nineveh) at the time came in order to preserve Nineveh’s identity from outsiders,” pointing out that “our blame was on some Arabs who later left from Chaldani in order to stand with the Arabs of Kirkuk .”

Khaled Al-Mufarji, spokesman for the Sovereignty Party led by Khamis Al-Khanjar, had revealed in previous statements that his coalition had negotiated with the Babylon bloc led by Rayan Al-Kildani to waive the coalition’s rights in Nineveh in exchange for obtaining the party’s dues in Kirkuk, indicating that Al-Kildani had turned against his alliance and obtained positions in Nineveh. He did not give up his positions in Kirkuk as was agreed upon.
