The Federal Court rejected the appeal submitted by Representative Raed Al-Maliki against Parliamentary Resolution No. 64 of 2024 regarding the House of Representatives’ approval of the budget schedules .

Al-Maliki said in a statement, “The court justified its response by not having jurisdiction to consider the appeal as submitted against the parliamentary decision .”

He added, “What is required for an appeal? Perhaps you mean that it be filed directly against the schedules. In this case, the appeal will also be rejected based on the provisions of the bylaws that prevent (non-government entities) from appealing, whether they are representatives of the people or citizens (Article 22 of the bylaws) .”

He pointed out that “at the same time, the court rejected the appeal submitted by a member of the Finance Committee (Representative Mustafa Al-Karaawi), who challenged the schedules, and justified the response by saying that he had no interest in the appeal .”

Al-Maliki continued: “It was expected that the appeals would be rejected because the court would prevail.” “It considers it to be in the highest interest of the state to proceed with the implementation of the budget schedules, and it will not take things back, regardless of the existence of valid legal reasons for the appeal.”
