The president of Al-Hadbaa Sports Club in Nineveh announced the suspension of his membership in the club’s presidency in protest against corruption and the government’s deliberate neglect of the sports sector in Nineveh Governorate.

Al-Hadbaa Sports Club President Mohammed Al-Obaidi said that he decided to suspend his membership in the club’s presidency, in protest against the government’s deliberate and intentional neglect of the sports sector in Nineveh.

He added: “The suspension of membership also comes against the backdrop of the local authorities in Nineveh ignoring the allocation of a plot of land for the club despite completing the transactions and requests related to it several years ago,” noting that it also comes due to the failure to disburse the sports grant provided by the central government about 3 years ago, amounting to about 3 billion dinars, which the previous local government in Nineveh received but has not yet disbursed to the sports clubs in the province.

Al-Ubaidi pointed out that there were land investment operations in the sports sector by the previous local government for figures close to the representatives, while it refused to grant land to sports clubs for the purpose of using it to serve youth and sports in Nineveh.
