The Land Forces Command confirmed, last Wednesday evening , the killing of two senior intelligence officers in an explosion that targeted their car while carrying out a security operation in Kirkuk .
The command said in a statement, “With great sadness and sorrow, we received the news of the martyrdom of the hero, Lieutenant Colonel Laith Mu’ayyad Yassin Al-Hayali, Director of the Intelligence and Security Division of the Eighth Mechanized Infantry Division, and the hero Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Mohammed Amin, Intelligence Officer of the Thirty-Second Mechanized Infantry Brigade .”
She confirmed that the two officers were martyred yesterday evening, Wednesday , as a result of an explosive device exploding while they were performing their duty in the Al-Ghara Mountains area, vowing that she would pursue the “terrorist criminals to avenge the martyrs .”
A security source in Kirkuk had previously confirmed the killing of a senior military intelligence officer and two of his soldiers in an explosive device explosion .
The source said, “The director of the Intelligence Division of the 8th Mechanized Infantry Division and two soldiers were killed by an explosive device explosion in the Gharra Mountains in the Dibs district while carrying out a security operation this evening .”
He pointed out that “the three bodies were transferred to the Forensic Medicine Department to complete the legal procedures.”
