The Ministry of Health announced the registration of one million subscribers in Baghdad, while revealing its contracts with public and private institutions .
Director General of the Health Insurance Authority, Ali Al-Ahmad Al-Ziyadi, said, “The number of subscribers during the period from July 11 to September 1 reached one million subscribers within Baghdad Governorate,” noting that “the second phase was launched in July 2024 and the third phase will be launched in July 2025. “
He added, “It is possible to include some governorates such as (Basra, Najaf, Babylon and Nineveh) during this period to begin with, to see the readiness of their directorates, and then we will see the minister’s approval,” stressing that “next month will witness new contracts that will be included within the guarantee system, and there are new service providers who have hospitals and laboratories that will be added within the Baghdad Governorate .”
Al-Ziyadi explained that “within the package of services provided by the Social Security Authority to the registrant, there is no treatment outside Iraq,” noting that “there is a group of packages of services provided for operations, consultations, radiological and laboratory services, treatment and dentistry only within Iraq .”
He added, “Within the system of service providers and those dealing with them, some want the private government sector, i.e. the private wing, and we have about 22 institutions that we have contracts with and have entered into the Social Security Authority system, and there are 12 institutions in the private sector, including private hospitals and laboratories, that have also entered into the Authority .”
