The counter-terrorism intelligence agency in Baghdad reported yesterday , Sunday, the arrest of a terrorist described as “dangerous” for his participation in kidnapping and killing a “large” number of security forces in Nineveh province during the period of the extremist organization’s control over the province .
The agency said in a statement today that its detachments in Rusafa had monitored information indicating that a wanted suspect had arrived from outside the province under Article 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law, adding that a specialized intelligence team had been formed, a tight ambush had been set up for him, and he had been arrested after obtaining the necessary judicial approvals .
The statement explained that when he was investigated, he explicitly confessed to belonging to ISIS and carrying out several operations (kidnapping and killing a large number of members of the security services in Nineveh Governorate during the organization’s control over it in 2014) as well as his participation in the terrorist attack on the security forces in the Wadi Hajar area .
According to the statement, the terrorist was handed over to the competent investigative authorities to receive his just punishment.
