The head of the Strategic Center for Human Rights in Iraq, Fadhel Al-Gharawi, reported that divorce cases have witnessed a significant increase over the past four years, which threatens the stability of the family and society.
Al-Gharawi added, in a statement received by Shafak News Agency, that the number of divorce cases registered in Iraq during this period, excluding the Kurdistan Region, amounted to 357,887 cases.
According to the Judicial Council statistics, 73,155 divorce cases were recorded in 2021, while 68,410 cases were recorded in 2022.
In 2023, cases rose to 71,016, while 45,306 divorce cases were recorded during the first seven months of 2024.
