The Ministry of Health announced yesterday , Monday, the delivery of the remains of (45) martyrs from the victims of Badoush prison who were assassinated by ISIS gangs in 2014 to their families .

The ministry said in a statement that “under the patronage of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and under the direct supervision of the Minister of Health, Saleh Mahdi al- Hasnawi, and the follow-up of the Director General of the Forensic Medicine Department, Zaid Ali Abbas, the ministry handed over the bodies of (45) martyrs in the second batch of the Badoush prison massacre, who were assassinated by ISIS terrorist gangs that took place several years ago in Nineveh Governorate .”

According to the statement, the Assistant Director General of the Forensic Medicine Department, Amer Jameel, confirmed that “this step comes as part of the efforts of the medical and laboratory staff in the Mass Graves Department and the Mass Graves Affairs and Protection Department at the Martyrs Foundation to extract and return the remains of the victims and present them to their families after completing all legal procedures and DNA testing .”

For her part, the Director of the Mass Graves Department in the Department, Yasmine Munther, explained the mechanism followed in uncovering the remains of the martyrs and the examinations conducted on these remains, with a statement of the mechanism for handing them over to their families in a way that ensures facilitation and lifting the burden on citizens, out of our concern for the comfort of the citizen, and thus the total number becomes (123) martyrs .

Munther pointed out that the work and efforts of the Mass Graves Department staff are continuing and will continue to complete the matching tests for all remains and for all mass graves that have been opened and the bodies removed from them, as a tribute to the blood of the martyrs.
