The Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, directed the extension of the entry visa for Lebanese citizens present in Iraq and their exemption from the Foreigners’ Residence Law due to the Israeli attacks that Lebanon is being subjected to .

The Sudanese media office stated in a statement that Al-Sudani directed the extension of the entry visa for Lebanese citizens present in Iraq without the need to travel for a period of 30 days, and it was extended again, based on the provisions of the Foreigners’ Residence Law No. (76 of 2017), due to the compelling war conditions that Lebanon is going through .

He also directed that Lebanese citizens who are currently in violation be exempted from the penalties stipulated in the above law, and that entry visas be granted free of charge to Lebanese citizens arriving at Iraqi border crossings, according to the statement .

The statement attributed the reason for issuing these decisions to “the difficult circumstances experienced by the Lebanese people, who have been subjected for days to criminal Zionist aggression, and in solidarity and support from Iraq, government and people, with our brothers in Lebanon .”

For his part, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, in a statement today, “strongly condemned the aggression” that the Lebanese people were subjected to, which resulted in the killing and wounding of hundreds of citizens, warning of a development that threatens to have serious consequences for the entire region .

The President stressed “Iraq’s support for its brothers in Palestine and Lebanon. We renew our firm and steadfast position in rejecting the aggressive acts and the necessity of stopping them as soon as possible,” renewing his call on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities in stopping the war on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the rest of the Palestinian territories .

Rashid continued by saying, “In the midst of these dangerous developments, we demand the necessity of taking an international position to stop the aggressive actions, as they will lead to the region slipping into dangerous scenarios that serve no one, and to prevent escalation and the extension of the war to Lebanon or any other region,” stressing the necessity of providing urgent relief to those affected by the aggressive actions.
