The Ministry of Education announced An investigation was opened into the killing of a student by one of his colleagues in Nineveh Governorate .
The ministry said in a statement: “A high-level ministerial delegation headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Technical Affairs, Hussein Sabri Al-Lami, offered condolences and sympathy on behalf of the Minister of Education to the family of the murdered student, Mohammed Sabah Mohammed, after a brawl that took place in the courtyard of Al-Faris Al-Arabi Evening School, which claimed the life of the deceased at the hands of one of his colleagues in Nineveh yesterday .”
He added, “The delegation opened an urgent investigation upon its arrival to determine the circumstances of the painful incident in order to take the maximum penalties against those who failed to perform their administrative duties .”
The visiting delegation also stressed – according to the statement – “the importance of adhering to the ministerial recommendations that include the presence of a supervisor in school yards and following up on students during their break times, while spreading awareness and education messages among students and pupils and explaining the importance of peace, security and safety, in order to ensure and preserve their psychological and physical health.”
