Turkish Islamic cleric Fethullah Gulen has died in the United States, where he was living, NTV and other Turkish media reported on Monday .
Ankara accuses Gulen of being responsible for the failed coup attempt in the country in 2016 .
Fethullah Gulen founded a powerful Islamist movement in Turkey and abroad, but has spent the past few years accused of orchestrating a coup attempt against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan .
Gulen has repeatedly denied these accusations .
Media outlets reported, via posts on the X website, that Gulen died in Pennsylvania at the age of 83 .
It is noteworthy that Fethullah Gulen, who is accused of being the mastermind of the Turkish coup, was born in Türkiye in 1941 and moved to live in the United States in 1999.
