The Ministry of Transport announced, yesterday , Wednesday, new service projects in Nineveh, while indicating the move to activate river taxis in the governorate .
The ministry’s spokesman, Maitham Al-Safi, said, “The most prominent project that was opened is the Nineveh passenger transport station project, according to international specifications, which is the first of its kind in Iraq .”
He added, “18 public transport lines were opened, 10 of which are for Al Noor University, in addition to the opening of the Al-Kayara garage with an area of 3,600 square meters , in addition to the railway projects that were opened at the beginning of this year after they were completely destroyed due to the terrorist attack that targeted the governorate .”
He pointed out that “discussions were held with the local government regarding the development road project, due to its positive effects on the governorate and its people, as it will pass through it and it will have the lion’s share, and there will be a number of projects on both sides of it, and there are two roads, a land line and a railway, in addition to employing thousands of workers from the governorate’s people .”
He stressed that “there is a vision set to improve the transportation situation in Nineveh Governorate, including activating river taxis to benefit from them in supporting tourism, and the second aspect is to benefit from the revenues to support the General Company for Maritime Transport to add a civilized touch to Nineveh Governorate .”
