Independent MP Hamid Al-Shiblawi confirmed that political interference is obstructing the questioning of ministers of Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani’s government in Parliament .

Al-Shablawi said, “Political interference has greatly affected the questioning of ministers in the House of Representatives, as many requests for questioning were submitted to the Parliament Presidency without taking action on them .”

Al-Shablawi added, “Previously, the security forces were the first line of defense, and the medical staff were the second line of defense during the Corona pandemic, but today the third line has become the political blocs and parties that obstruct the questioning of ministers inside the council .”

He explained that “any MP seeking to question a minister in the government finds the bloc or party supporting that minister standing in the way of this questioning and threatening in return to question the minister supported by the MP or his political bloc .”

Al-Shablawi stressed that “the file of questioning ministers is actually suspended in parliament due to pressure from political parties and blocs, which prevents any actual accountability of ministers in the current government.”
