The new Speaker of Parliament, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, revealed his plans to work in the parliament, while revealing his position on the tensions and war in the region .

Al-Mashhadani said in his first speech after being elected as Speaker of Parliament: “I am pleased and honored to extend to you my sincere thanks and appreciation and my utmost respect and gratitude for granting us your confidence as Speaker of the House of Representatives, whether those who voted for us or those who did not vote, there is no difference to us between those who agreed and those who objected, as these are the tools of the democratic process, which is characterized by multiple points of view .”

He continued: “This responsibility is an important and great assignment, and I will do my utmost to live up to your expectations, and I hope to be up to it. From here, I pledge to you that we will work as a cohesive team to legislate laws that serve the people of our dear country, and I put my hand in yours to monitor the performance of the government and its program that it presented to the House of Representatives when it was approved and during the remaining period of its life to reach the best desired results .”

Al-Mashhadani pledged to raise the level of legislative and oversight performance in the coming period, due to the number of laws in the parliamentary committees that we will proceed to legislate, stressing the importance of coordination with all state institutions to activate these laws and identify the problems and obstacles that prevent their implementation and find effective solutions for them .

Regarding the tensions in the region, the new Speaker of Parliament said: “In these critical and difficult circumstances that the Palestinian people and the Lebanese people are going through, who are steadfast in the face of the massacres that shame humanity and are being carried out by the gangs of the Zionist entity, in the face of an international silence regarding the human genocide carried out by the Israeli war machine .”

Al-Mashhadani concluded by saying: “I announce with you our position in support of our Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, and we will not be satisfied with speeches and slogans, but we will work with all Arab and international parliaments and pressure to obtain an international resolution to cease fire, end the aggression, and protect the safe peoples from the Zionist massacres .”

He concluded by saying: “We will work together and will spare no effort or time to provide humanitarian aid to the besieged and displaced families in the proud Gaza Strip and the proud southern suburb.”
