The Joint Operations Command announced immediate measures to provide relief to those affected by floods and rains in the northern and western governorates of Iraq.

A statement by the command said: “Based on the directives of the Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, to the National Center for Crisis and Disaster Management at the Ministry of Interior to immediately begin providing relief to those affected by floods and rains in the northern and western governorates of Iraq, and in coordination with mobilizing the efforts of military and civilian formations and engineering capabilities, and providing all necessary assistance and aid to the people with the required speed.

It also decided to limit the movement of civil and military vehicles in valleys and areas witnessing severe and high floods, and called on the directors and employees of all concerned service departments to take the necessary measures and coordinate with the governorates and work in the spirit of one team to confront floods and torrents.

Meanwhile, the Nineveh Sewerage Directorate announced the mobilization of its staff to treat rainwater and flood water accumulations.

A source in Nineveh Sewerage said that the director and staff of Nineveh Sewerage were mobilized last night in order to treat the waterways and drain the rain to ensure that rainwater does not accumulate and flood.
