The Ministry of Interior confirmed, yesterday , Tuesday, the launch of work on a project to fortify an important part of the Iraqi borders, by erecting 100 km of concrete wall north and south of the Euphrates River in the Tarfawi area, west of Anbar Governorate .
The Ministry of Interior stated in a statement: “Under the direction of the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, the Commander of the Border Forces, Lieutenant General Mohammed Abdul Wahab, arrived yesterday , Tuesday, to the Iraqi-Syrian border strip within the Seventh Border Brigades and the Commando Brigade, and he was received by the Commander of the Sixth Region Borders, Major General Yasser Hussein Ali .”
The statement added, “The tour included a visit to the concrete factory to launch work on a project to fortify an important part of the Iraqi border, by erecting 100 km of concrete wall north and south of the Euphrates River in the Tarfawi area west of Anbar Governorate, to be added to what was previously completed of the concrete wall that reached Rabia west of Nineveh .”
The statement stressed that “the erection of the concrete wall, along with a series of other security fortifications, contributed to achieving significant control of the Iraqi-Syrian border, unprecedented throughout the history of the Iraqi state .”
