Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, Hayreddin Ocak, announced that Iraq is the second largest importer of Turkish pomegranates during the period from January to October this year .

“Turkey is among the top five countries in the world with its pomegranate production of 700,000 tons annually, and is also among the top 10 exporting countries with exports ranging between 150,000 and 200,000 tons annually ,” Ocak said in a statement.

He added that “pomegranates were exported to 61 countries during the 10-month period of 2024,” explaining that the Russian Federation ranked first among the countries to which Turkey exported pomegranates, with an amount of $21 million .

He continued, “We exported pomegranates worth $20 million to Iraq, which came in second place, while Germany requested $14.5 million worth of Turkish pomegranates, and we sent $7.5 million worth of pomegranates to the United Kingdom and $5.5 million to Ukraine . “
