A senior security source reported yesterday , Wednesday, the formation of a new military division in Diyala Governorate to enhance security, while confirming the assignment of Major General Anwar Malallah Al-Zuhairi as its commander .
The source stated that “the 23rd Division was formed a few days ago based on higher orders to enhance the security of the Diyala sector, especially after the recurrence of incidents in some areas of the province. Today, most of the stages of its formation have been completed and a commander has been assigned to it .”
He added, “Major General Anwar Malallah Al-Zuhairi was assigned the duties of the commander of the 23rd Division and officially began his work,” noting that “the governorate now includes two military divisions within the Diyala Operations Command, which are the First Division and the 23rd Division.”
