Yesterday , Wednesday, the Director of the Seismic Monitoring Department, Ali Abdul Khaliq , ruled out the occurrence of an earthquake of a “destructive nature” in Iraq at the present time or in the near future .
He said in a press statement that there is daily activity recorded in the areas of Kalar, Khanaqin and Halabja, which is light seismic activity and tremors that citizens do not feel, but are recorded by seismic monitoring devices .
He added, “We recorded activity in northern Nineveh, Sinjar and Tal Afar, which were mostly weak tremors that citizens did not feel .”
Abdul Khaleq noted that “it is expected that seismic activity will continue as it is, according to the analysis of stresses, plate movement, and seismic activity on existing faults and faults.”
