The Federal Integrity Commission announced An in absentia ruling was issued sentencing the former Minister of Transport to severe imprisonment for committing violations in government contracts .

The Government Media and Communications Office stated in a statement, while speaking about the case investigated by the Integrity Commission and referred to the judiciary, that the Rusafa Misdemeanor Court, which is specialized in examining integrity cases, issued a ruling in absentia against the former convicted fugitive Minister of Transport (Kazem Finjan Hussein), sentencing him to three years of hard labor for deliberately committing an act that violates the duties of his job .

The office stated that the ruling came as a result of the fugitive convict committing violations in contracts to supply Iraqi Airways aircraft with jet fuel at external stations .

He added that the court, after reviewing the evidence obtained in the case and the statements of the legal representative of the Ministry of Transport, reached full conviction of the convict’s negligence, and decided to sentence him to three years of severe imprisonment, based on the provisions of Article (331) of the Penal Code.
