Minister of Commerce, Athir Al-Ghariri, announced the transfer of 400 billion dinars to pay the dues of farmers in the northern governorates .
A statement by the Ministry of Trade stated that “Minister of Trade Athir Al-Ghariri announced the transfer of 400 billion dinars to pay farmers’ dues for the remaining wheat values for the 2024 season for the five northern governorates, Nineveh, Kirkuk, Dohuk, Sulaymaniyah and Erbil .”
The Director General of the General Company for Grain Trade, Haider Nouri Al-Karawi, said, according to the statement: “The company’s accounting staff began transferring the amounts today to the five northern governorates to pay the remaining financial dues for the 2024 wheat marketing season .”
The statement indicated that “the Grain Company achieved a strategic stock and self-sufficiency during the 2024 wheat marketing season,” stressing that “the company is currently working, within its plan for the upcoming marketing seasons, to secure large storage capacities by building silos and tanks that can accommodate quantities of wheat for strategic storage.”
