An informed government source revealed yesterday , Sunday, the existence of American pressures, which he described as “significant”, and Israeli threats to prevent Iraqi armed factions from using Iraqi territory to strike targets inside Israel .
The source said “The American side has been pressuring the Iraqi government for some time to prevent the armed factions from using Iraqi territory to strike Israeli targets, and the American side conveyed a clear Israeli threat that the use of Iraqi territory by the factions will lead to a response to the factions within Iraqi geography, instead of Syrian .”
The source, who requested anonymity, added, “The Iraqi government put great pressure on the armed factions to prevent them from using Iraqi territory. It also asked Tehran to pressure the factions and oblige them to prevent them from carrying out any military action from within Iraq. The tweet of the Iraqi National Security Advisor, Qasim al-Araji, last night was a response to the American messages, as he confirmed that Iraqi territory will not be a launching pad for any attacks in the region .”
