Mosul journalist Jamal Al-Badrani, director of the Al-Sharqiya channel office and one of the founders of Mosul Time Radio in the city of Mosul, was subjected to a cowardly attack carried out by three people belonging to an armed faction that is foreign to Mosul and its people.

Journalist Jamal Al-Badrani told Mosul Time Radio that three people belonging to one of the armed factions pursued him on the left side of the city, then stopped his car and assaulted him, then fled. He explained that the people were riding in a government pickup truck that had a cover and did not have a vehicle license plate.

Nineveh journalists strongly condemned the attack on journalist and media figure Jamal Al-Badrani, describing it as targeting freedom of opinion, expression and free speech in Mosul.

Iraqi journalists demanded that the Iraqi judiciary punish those who attacked journalist Jamal Al-Badrani and expose them to the public, while they held the Iraqi government and the Prime Minister responsible for the safety of Al-Badrani and the rest of the journalists due to the dominance of armed groups over the scene in the city of Mosul.

The Al Sharqiya Channels Group in Iraq also condemned the attack on journalist Jamal Al-Badrani, and demanded that the Iraqi judiciary hold the attackers accountable, describing them as a group of scum who resemble those who lead them.

Iraqi Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, condemned the attack on journalist Jamal Al-Badrani and called on the security services to play their role in uncovering those involved in the attack on him.

The Artists Syndicate, Nineveh Branch, also condemned the cowardly attack on Al-Badrani, and stressed that a fair judiciary is capable of taking his right and standing up to the violation of the law and attempts to silence and confiscate freedom of expression.

The Albu Badran clan in Nineveh also held the local and central governments responsible for the safety of journalist Jamal Al-Badrani and demanded that those involved in the assault on him be held accountable.

Al-Nakheel Center for Press Rights and Freedoms condemned the heinous attack on the Director of the Al-Sharqiya Satellite Channels Office in Nineveh Governorate, colleague Jamal Al-Badran , who is considered one of the most prominent journalistic figures in the governorate.

The center called on the governor of Nineveh, Mr. Abdul Qader Al-Dakhil, in his capacity as head of the security committee in the province, to open an investigation into this incident, pursue the perpetrators, expose them, and bring them to justice, and to work to provide a safe environment for journalists away from various types of threats.

The center also called on the Iraqi judiciary to hold the perpetrators accountable and impose the harshest judicial penalties against them.
