Social media sites were abuzz with a wide campaign of criticism against the entity implementing the right side sewerage project, as a result of the project works causing the demolition of the ancient Nineveh wall on the side near the Qara Saray and Bashtabiya citadels.
Activists circulated photos of damage to the historic Mosul wall in the Al-Shifa neighborhood near Qara Saray in the right side of Mosul, as a result of the implementation of a project in the area.
Activists and citizens from Mosul demanded that the negligent party be held accountable, and that work be done to protect the city’s antiquities and heritage. They also criticized the absence of the Ministry of Culture’s role in expediting the restoration and maintenance of the ancient Nineveh Wall from the side of Bashtabiya Castle, in addition to the castle that is threatened with collapse.
