The head of Nineveh Provincial Council, Ahmed Al-Hasoud, said, “Within the framework of the major national afforestation campaign launched by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, a major campaign was launched last Thursday to plant the forest area in the province with the participation of all government departments and institutions, civil society organizations and citizens; with the aim of enhancing environmental sustainability and reducing pollution by planting thousands of trees .”
He added, “This initiative comes to confront environmental challenges and reduce pollution, in addition to the role of afforestation in combating desertification and mitigating the effects of climate change facing Nineveh Governorate .”
He continued, “We need to combine governmental and civil efforts to make this campaign a success and achieve its goals aimed at building a healthy and sustainable environment for generations,” stressing that “the provincial council will continue to adopt similar initiatives to enhance environmental development and improve the quality of life in Nineveh.”
