US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken revealed, yesterday , Saturday, direct contacts between the United States and “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham”, which led the attack that toppled Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and which Washington classifies as a terrorist organization .

Blinken said, after a meeting of foreign ministers of Arab countries, including Iraq, in addition to Turkey, a UN representative and another from the European Union, in Jordan, that the joint statement agreed to define the principles that the countries want to follow in the political transition in Syria, including inclusiveness and respect for minorities .

The US Secretary of State added that diplomats agreed on the need to form an “inclusive” government in Syria .

Senior diplomats from the United States, Turkey, the European Union and Arab countries met in Jordan for talks on Syria, where armed opposition forces have ousted President Bashar al-Assad .

The Jordan talks concluded with the need to form an “inclusive and representative” Syrian government, according to the US Secretary of State .

Jordan hosted Saturday’s meeting in Aqaba, and did not invite Russia and Iran, which had been supporting Assad.
