Nineveh Provincial Council announced the adjournment of its seventeenth session, which was held with the attendance of only the Nineveh Future Bloc, while the United Nineveh and Kurdistan Democratic Blocs continued to boycott it.

The announcement of the adjournment of the session, which was dedicated to voting on the issue of mukhtars and investment, comes in order to emphasize the need for consensus and partnership in decision-making by all political forces in the council, according to what was confirmed by the head of the Nineveh Council, Ahmed Al-Hasoud.

The announcement of the adjournment of the session comes in conjunction with the continuation of negotiations and dialogues between the Nineveh Future, Nineveh United and Kurdistan Democratic blocs to end the state of stagnation and political crisis caused by the issue of appointing and replacing heads of administrative units in the province.

The head of the Nineveh Council, Ahmed Al-Hasoud, confirmed that the adjournment of the session comes in order to give the opportunity to the United Nineveh and Kurdistan Democratic blocs to participate in making important decisions despite achieving the quorum to hold the session, indicating that the door to dialogue between the political forces is open in order to reach an end to the political crisis and the state of boycott that the council is witnessing.

The head of the Nineveh Provincial Council, Ahmed Al-Hasoud, indicated that he stands at an equal distance from all political forces, and stressed the necessity of the participation of all blocs in the council sessions, indicating that the dialogue that the political blocs are engaged in to resolve the differences resulting from the election and replacement of heads of administrative units, which led to the boycott of the sessions.

The head of the Nineveh Unified Bloc in the Nineveh Council, Muhannad Najm al-Jubouri, announced that his bloc held two dialogue sessions with the Nineveh Future Bloc, and indicated that the dialogues are still ongoing to reach solutions that end the current crisis. Al-Jubouri described the adjournment of the session as reflecting a gesture of good faith in resolving the dispute with the Nineveh Future Bloc regarding the mechanism for electing heads of administrative units.

For his part, Nineveh Provincial Council member Abdullah al-Nujaifi confirmed that the dialogues currently taking place aim to achieve social and political balance that will bring about real stability in Nineveh Province. While he considered the initiative of Council Chairman Ahmed al-Hasoud to adjourn the last council session as a good initiative, he stressed the necessity for all political blocs that represent the societal components in Nineveh to have real representation in all departments and administrative units .

The head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc in the Nineveh Council, Ahmed Al-Kiki, stressed the necessity of achieving a true partnership for all the forces representing Nineveh Governorate in order to end the current political differences. Al-Kiki said that the negotiations currently underway promise to end the current crisis, but he made the success of the negotiations dependent on achieving a true partnership on the ground and not in slogans and statements.
