Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani addressed The Traffic Department and all relevant authorities should put in place measures to limit speeding and reduce the number of accidents .
The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated: “Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani made a field visit to the Baghdad-Mosul entrance project, to follow up on the progress of the implementation work therein .”
During his field tour, the Prime Minister stressed “the importance of the project for Baghdad Governorate and its connection to neighboring governorates,” noting that “citizens endured a lot of suffering and were patient and waited for months and years, and the project is now approaching its end to complete the provision of service to the movement of citizens .”
The Prime Minister stressed, according to the statement, that “the entrance, with its two sections, the first belonging to the Baghdad Municipality, and the second belonging to the Baghdad Governorate, will be completed within 100 days, directing the removal of all obstacles that hinder the completion of the project .”
He continued: “The project must be characterised by sustainability, ease of movement for the citizen, and take into consideration all that distinguishes an entrance that befits the capital, Baghdad, and links it to the rest of the governorates,” indicating that “previous administrations moved towards a standard project, and we were able to develop a project that provides strategic solutions to operate this important entrance for the Baghdad Governorate and the capital .”
He pointed out that “the project will provide bridges for cars on the outbound and return routes, and bridges for pedestrians, and it has all the requirements of modern roads, including lighting and signboards,” directing “the Traffic Directorate and all relevant authorities to put in place procedures that limit speeding, reduce the number of accidents, and ensure traffic safety to the maximum extent .”
He added, “It is important to complete the work according to specifications, in order to ensure sustainability and the continuation of the service and function of the constructions, roads and their components for the longest possible period .”
The Prime Minister directed “submitting lists of complementary works and resolving conflicts as quickly as possible, and directing ministries to cooperate quickly to resolve all conflicts.”
