Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, accompanied by Nineveh Governor Abdul Qader Al-Dakhil, inspected the progress of work at Mosul International Airport.
The Prime Minister arrived in Mosul yesterday morning, Sunday, to inspect some projects and lay the foundation stone for others.
Al-Sudani was briefed on the work related to the construction of the airport runway and its various halls, the current completion rate of which is more than 80%. He also listened to the officials of the implementing company, and directed the removal of all obstacles hindering their current work.
The Prime Minister directed that the airport be opened on June 10, which marks the anniversary of the occupation of Mosul, as a message of defiance against terrorism.

Al-Sudani stressed that laying the foundation stone for the reconstruction of Old Mosul and the riverfront represents an important step towards rebuilding the city of Mosul and enhancing its historical and cultural status, noting that the work “will include the restoration of archaeological landmarks and vital facilities.”
