Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani launched the executive works of the Baghdad Sustainable Forests Project .

According to a statement issued by Al-Sudani’s office, “the project will be implemented on the Rashid camp grounds .”

On August 18, 2024, the Council of Ministers approved the referral of the project to transform the land of Al-Rashid Camp, east of Baghdad, into sustainable and tourist forest areas, within high specifications that are compatible with the environment, and to invest the area designated for recreational activity only .

Green spaces represent an outlet for the citizens of the capital, Baghdad, in addition to increasing the green spaces that have been affected by climate change and the demolition of agricultural lands and their conversion into residential areas.
