Nineveh Governor Abdul Qader al-Dakhil announced that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani will visit Mosul soon to lay the foundation stone for an “important” project that will bring life back to Old Mosul .
Al-Dakhil said, “Al-Sudani will visit Mosul soon to lay the foundation stone for the riverfront project, which is one of the most important pillars in the reconstruction of old Mosul .”
He explained that “the local government of Nineveh has adopted the reconstruction of the goldsmiths’ market in the center of Mosul at its own expense in order to support the revitalization of the center of Mosul and the old city .”
Al-Dakhil pointed out that “the Nineveh administration had previously supported many projects in the old city center in order to rebuild it and bring life back to it after it was completely destroyed during military operations .”
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani made two visits to Nineveh Governorate during the year 2024, the first in March, and the second in May .
Al-Sudani’s first visit to Nineveh this year witnessed him launching a number of major service projects, including the launch of work on the new Al-Ghazlani residential city .
On January 21, 2024, Al-Sudani directed the implementation of several projects in Nineveh Governorate, including the Old City Riverfront Project and the project to resolve traffic congestion in the Old City of Mosul.
