On Sunday, the representative of Nineveh Governorate, Talib Al-Maamari, warned of the explosion of the situation in the city of Mosul as a result of the continuous pressure on citizens by influential political and armed parties .

Mosul, the capital of Nineveh Governorate, is considered the second largest city in Iraq in terms of population density after the capital, Baghdad .

Al-Maamari said, “Many armed and political parties that have influence in Baghdad are now exerting great pressure on the people of Nineveh, specifically the people of Mosul .”

He added, “The pressures being exerted against many people include imposing financial sums on them and preventing them from building in and around Mosul by armed factions, as well as interfering in their electoral affairs and exploiting crowds in order to support the victory of candidates of blocs close to those parties .”

Al-Maamari pointed out that these practices will lead to an explosion of the situation in Nineveh, noting that this will have serious repercussions on Nineveh and all of Iraq .

The representative of Nineveh called on the Iraqi authorities, headed by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, to “intervene urgently to address Nineveh’s crises before they escalate .”
