A security source reported yesterday , Tuesday, the arrest of a group of people who tore up a picture of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani and the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Authority, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis .
The source said , “The General Directorate of Security, Discipline, Investigations and Preventive Security arrested a group of vandals who tore up pictures of the leaders of (the Victory Leaders) near the “Babylon” Hotel in the Karrada area in central Baghdad .”
The source said that “the action aims to spread division among the people of the country and destabilize the country’s internal security .”
The source did not reveal the number of people arrested in this incident .
In mid-December, the Iraqi security authorities arrested a young man on charges of tearing up pictures of Qassem Soleimani and Al-Muhandis on Tabu Street in the center of Baqubah, the capital of Diyala Governorate .
The Diyala Court of Appeal quickly released the young man, a day after his arrest .
