The leader of “United”, Atheel Al-Nujaifi, confirmed in a post on his personal page, the details of which were followed by “Mosul Time” Radio, that political change in Iraq is “inevitably coming”, indicating that this change may be driven by regional and international variables, and not only by weak internal political performance.
Al-Nujaifi explained that “the parliamentary elections have become the only basis for gaining legitimacy and authority in Iraq despite the criticism directed at the political process.” He added that Iranian influence in Iraq may “decline for two main reasons: the first is the failure of the forces associated with the Iranian project to provide what attracts the support of the masses, and the second is the presence of a new international will in the region.
Al-Nujaifi pointed out that “the parties that have been subjected to pressure from the Iranian project may find in the regional changes an opportunity to restore hope for change,” adding that the upcoming electoral cycle “may be the beginning of these transformations.” He pointed out that any attempt by supporters of Iranian influence to confront this change may face “a firm international will,” expressing his doubts about the ability of those forces to challenge this international will.
